Celebrating repo (wetlands)

This pānui features a new suite of resources in te reo Māori and English – including pedagogical resources and free PLD that support their use.

Welcome to 2021!

We hope you had a lovely break and are ready for whatever 2021 brings.

Celebrating wetlands – te repo

We are excited to share with you our most recent collaboration: Tuihonoa Te Reo o Te Repo. This set of resources draws extensively from Māori-led repo research published in Te Reo o Te Repo – The Voice of the Wetland cultural wetland handbook (2017) by Manaaki Whenua – Landcare Research.

In ecological terms, wetlands are ecotones – transitional habitats between terrestrial and aquatic ecosystems. In cultural terms, wetlands are of special significance to Māori. Our resources explore the connections between repo, plant and animal species and people with a kaupapa Māori approach.
