Tuatara classification

This image represents tuatara classification. It begins with the broadest, most inclusive taxon (group) and moves through subdivisions until it reaches species – the smallest and most exclusive taxon.  In the case of the tuarara there is only one genus and one species – Sphenodon punctatus.
