The Science Learning Hub Pokapū Akoranga Pūtaiao has a collections tool that you can use to plan your teaching, collaborate with other users, and organise our content in a way that works for you.
Getting started
Say you’ve got a classroom group that wants to investigate climate change. Start by clicking 'Create new collection' in the Collections section of your Profile.
Click 'Find more resources' to open a search, or browse our topics section.
Whether it’s a video, image, article, activity or any other kind of resource on the hub, you can save to any one of your collections from the resource page, or directly from the search page.
Using notes and reordering your collection
You can add text to any resource in your collection.
Click and drag to arrange the items in your collection.
The grey plus icon allows you to add standalone notes.
Notes can have basic formatting, lists or bullet points, and even links to external content.
Collaboration and sharing
You can add collaborators to your collection. Just enter their email and the collection will be added to their profile. Now they can edit the collection and even add collaborators as well.
By default, collections are private, but it’s easy to switch them to public.
Click the lock icon to make a note private. It changes colour and won't appear if you look at the connected resource.
Our collections article has lots of ready-made public collections you can browse. Anyone can make a copy of a public collection and add to it themselves, as long as they’re signed in.
Other uses
There are lots of possibilities for shared and public collections. You might want to build up a collection or use one of ours, then share the link with your class. A lesson plan might include having students collaborate on their own collections.
We’d love to hear how you use collections. Find us on social media or email us at enquiries@sciencelearn.org.nz to share your collections and what you use them for.
