The Science Learning Hub Pokapū Akoranga Pūtaiao has thousands of resources for use in the classroom. Let's explore some ways of navigating all this content.
In the top bar, you can see we've got content organised into Topics and Concepts. Topics collates content into themes or areas of interest that are regularly taught as units of study.
Let's say you or your students wanted to find out more about 'birds'. You can see immediately there's lots of resources in this topic. You can narrow it down to articles, activities, interactives, videos, teacher PLD, citizen science, and more.
You can also browse according to what level the resources are aimed at.
Let's dive into an introductory article. On the right hand side of the page, you can save this resource or open a sidebar to find out what science topics, underlying concepts, or glossary terms are touched on.
In Concepts, you can find content organised around the big ideas of science. Within each concept, the content is organised into types and levels, just like in the topics section.
You can start an advanced search of the site or glossary from the icon at the top of every page. Your search results include all the topics and concepts that include your search terms. You can filter these down to see the resources under each heading. Again, you can also filter by resource type or level. Here you have the option to be more specific about which level it is you are wanting content for.
You can also sort according to which results are most relevant to your query, or which ones are newest on the site.
