This clip shows at the beginning the ship moving through the ice before entering the ship’s galley. Here the ship’s cook, Kim Ashby and Brian Samuels are busy preparing food for crew and scientists. The clip finishes with an outside shot of the Tangaroa now sailing through rough weather.

    Points of interest for teachers:

    • Students may want to consider the range of food that is required when travelling in a cold environment.
    • Consider the caution the cooks have to take when working in rough sea conditions.
    • After watching the video look at the daily Data from the RV Tangaroa and find out where you can find information on weather changes.
