Biotechnology and the unpredictable ride

Dr James (Jim) Watson, former CEO of Genesis R&D talks about the importance of using your imagination and being curious.

Transcript

Dr Jim Watson (Genesis R&D)

Science is a curiosity-driven business, and more than anything else the types of individuals that you really seek are those that you know will be very curious about why, how does something work, why, why, why, why. So I think there has to be curiosity, there has to be drive, and enormous flexibility, because you simply cannot predict where an experiment or a discovery might lead you. That’s both the excitement for the workers, and I suppose the frustration for the investors, because it's not a predictable ride.
