  • In this online PD session recorded on 15 October 2015, primary school teacher Kim MacPherson talks about the Science Learning Hub’s resources – Conserving native birds – and how she used a literacy approach to engage and explore science issues with year 7 and 8 students.

Thank you. First timer but will promote this medium to others. Thanks again for all the inspiration!

Kim first shows us the resources that she developed for the Science Learning Hub and used in her classroom programmes. She then talks about how she used these resources to teach active reading – an important activity for making meaning during the process of science inquiry. The integration of literacy and science helped to benefit her students across both areas of the curriculum.

This PLD session was based on the legacy Science Learning Hub however all the resources are still available on this website.

Thank you for the presentation. A great insight into the Science Hub and all its classroom possibilities.
