Lancewood

Adult and juvenile leaves of the lancewood tree

The juvenile leaves of many native trees can be totally different from those of adult plants of the same species. Pōkākā (Elaeocarpus hookerianus) and horoeka (Pseudopanax crassifolius) are two examples.
