Monitoring bats

A mist net at nighttime in a forest to capture short-tailed bats

Department of Conservation rangers using a mist net to capture short-tailed bats at Whirinaki Te Pua-a-Tane Conservation Park. A mist net is specially designed to be invisible to both birds and bats.
