Harvesting oysters in Chesapeake Bay 2012 using an oyster dredge

The depletion of oysters in Chesapeake Bay caused the ecosystem to collapse. Chesapeake Bay now has many kilometres of dead zones – hypoxic (low-oxygen) areas where marine life dies or leaves the area.
