parts per trillion

Definition

  1. A commonly used term to describe a very tiny amount of something: one part in one trillion parts. For example, about 30 seconds out of every million years.

  2. In chemistry, a unit of measure for very, very small concentrations (dilutions). This can be expressed as nanograms per litre (ng/L).
