triboelectricity

Definition

The electric charge transfer between two objects when they come in contact or are rubbed against each other. Static electricity is an example of the triboelectric effect. The triboelectric series is a list of materials ranked by their tendency to lose or gain electrons, in comparison to other materials on the list.
