Wild Dunedin – New Zealand's Festival of Nature has very deep roots in Dunedin, the wildlife capital of Aotearoa.
It is a celebration of Ōtepoti Dunedin'd unique wildlife, wild places, and the inspiring people who protect them. Each year, the work of local community groups, businesses, conservationists and nature lovers are showcasd – planting native species, eradicating introduced mammalian predators, and helping populations of native animals of all kinds to flourish. The organisers also work closely with nature tourism operators in the city, and provide many opportunities for locals and visitors alike to view Dunedin’s very special wildlife up close.
The festival includes a wide range of fun and educational events for all ages. Whether you’re a budding geologist, a wildlife enthusiast, or just curious about nature’s wonders, there’s something for everyone. There will be guided walks, family-friendly workshops, interactive talks, wild dining events, and much more.
There are daily deals and activities across the entire festival at many museums, galleries, libraries, wild places, exhibitions and special activities to celebrate Wild Dunedin.
