Region(s): Wellington

In this talk natural history curator Dr Colin Miskelly describes the conservation efforts that transformed Mana Island from farm station to a thriving sanctuary.
Mana Island is one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s conservation success stories. Farmed off the coast of Porirua for more than 150 years, the island is now covered with forest that is overflowing with an abundance of endemic birds, lizards and insects. Some of our own species translocations at Zealandia can be traced back to Mana Island!
This event will be held in the Pāteke Room with refreshments provided. Overflow parking is available on Birdwood Street. Doors open at 6.45pm.
Venue: Pāteke Room, Zealandia Eco-Sanctuary, Waiapu Road, Karori, Wellington
