The Prime Minister's Space Prizes 2026

Apply now for one of the two 2026 Prime Minister’s Space Prizes. These prizes recognise the talented people working in New Zealand’s space and advanced aviation sectors, and aim to inspire young people to join them.

The Prime Minister's Space Prize for Student Endeavour

This prize is worth $50,000. The prize will be awarded to either a year 12 or year 13 student who is undertaking or has recently completed a science, technology or engineering project related to the space sector and/or the advanced aviation sector.

The Prime Minister's Space Prize for Professional Excellence

This prize is worth $100,000 NZD. This prize is for a professional working in a space-related field, recognising their outstanding achievements and contribution to the sector.

Applications close 30 September 2026.
