Get your nomination in now for the 2026 teaching excellence award for exemplary and innovative teaching in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) from the Royal Society Te Apārangi.

Award details

Discipline: the science, technology, mathematics, pūtaiao, hangarau or pāngarau learning areas of the New Zealand curriculum.

Award offered: Yearly, (starting in 2026)

Prize: Certificate, to be awarded at the Society’s Research Honours Aotearoa event.

Awarded to a teacher for exemplary and innovative teaching in the science, technology, mathematics, pūtaiao, hangarau or pāngarau learning areas of the New Zealand curriculum.

The 2026 round for nominations is now open. The closing date for nominations is 31 March 2026.
