Come along to a special after-hours science night at Te Manawa as we celebrate the final weekend of the Sunlight – Ihi Kōmaru exhibtion. Take up this opportunuity to get hands-on with the Earth’s star at room temperature. Explore the exhibition after dark and discover the science of light, energy, and the Sun through interactive exhibits and hands-on activities.

The sun is the source for nearly all energy on Earth. Not only can we harness solar power for electricity, the sun drives ocean currents, winds and plants use sunlight to grow.

Throughout the evening, the team from Fonterra will present live science shows, while Te Manawa’s team will be in the exhibition with explorations and demonstrations inspired by the science of sunlight.

Whether you want to race a beam of light, experiment with the science behind every day light phenomena, or simply experience the exhibition in a new way, this could be your last chance to see Sunlight: Ihi Kōmaru before the sun sets on it.

Fonterra Science shows:

  • 6:30–7:30pm

  • 8:00– 9:00pm
