Stargazing 101: Astronomy for Beginners
12 November 2025 - 12 November 2025
7–9pm
Region(s): Wellington
Type(s): presentations
Have you ever looked up and wondered what you’re looking at?
Perfect for anyone interested in the night sky, this two-hour live session under the immersive planetarium dome will guide you through the basics of stargazing:
how and why the stars and planets move the way they do
how to find South and other useful markers with the naked eye;
how to locate your place in space.

Stars
We can see but not hear stars in faraway galaxies. This is because light can travel through a vacuum but sound cannot (sound needs a medium).
Sit back and enjoy being taken on a detailed tour of the night sky with their high-definition laser projectors.
