Science in a Van: Primary and Intermediate School Science Shows 2026

Science in a Van Science shows are live performances that bring science to life right in your school. Through fun experiments, storytelling and eye-catching demonstrations, they help students and teachers explore scientific ideas in an exciting and easy-to-understand way.

Since 2011, Science in a Van have been creating and performing unique science shows across Aotearoa. They make it simple for teachers by coming to your school. You just provide a large space like a hall or MLE, and they handle everything else. No need to book buses!  

There are lots of topics to choose from, with detailed descriptions available on their website.

The shows

The Wonderful World of Bubbles (Years 0–4) Explore materials, mixtures and reactions, use the scientific process and see GIANT bubbles!

What’s the Matter? (Years 4–8)  Get curious about solids, liquids and gases with energetic demos that make the science stick.
