Engage in Primary Science Week with resources, competitions and events for both kaiako and ākonga!

The New Zealand Association of Primary Science Educators (NZAPSE) is proud to bring another Primary Science Week to life and thank all the wonderful partners and organisations who support schools to get involved in bringing science to life in their classrooms!

This year the theme is Science exploration.

Live Q&A with a Scientist: Ben Kennedy!

The Science Learning Hub is hosting a live Q&A webinar with the irrepressible volcanologist, and winner of the Prime Minister’s Science Communication Prize, Professor Ben Kennedy.

  • Thursday, 15 May, 11:45 am–12:30 pm

Open to all, though aimed at school years 4–8. Students will need to be supervised during this session.

Beyond Earth

Beyond Earth brings the wonders of space into classrooms and school camps across Taupo, South Waikato and Rotorua. Sessions are fun-filled, interactive and loaded with questions and humour.

Designed to spark curiosity and inspire young minds, the sessions support the achievement aims outlined in the New Zealand Science Curriculum. From Matariki to space exploration, the Solar System to the seasons – explore the full range of topics on offer and book your tamariki’s next adventure into space.

Beyond Earth also offers evening stargazing experiences for families, tourists and general public.

Book a ‘Space Exploration’ or ‘Solar System’ session for the week and the following week to receive a 20% discount to celebrate during this year's Primary Science Week.

Auckland Science Teachers Association

Join the Auckland Science Teachers Association for a Developing observation skills workshop. The programme will cover: Plants and leaves, Mystery boxes, Food science, Microscope observations, Rotocopters, and Using AI to develop lessons. Afterwards netowrks with other teachers over afternoon.
