New Zealand Species Edit-a-thon

02 August 2025 - 09 August 2025

10 am–4 pm

Region(s): Wellington

Type(s): experiences, miscellaneous

As the internet is increasingly taken over by sponsored posts and AI-generated content, Wikipedia remains steadfast as a source of verifiable, up-to-date information. It’s one of the most visited websites in the world, maintained by around 120,000 volunteer editors across the globe, and it could use your help.

Over two Saturdays, 2 August and 9 August, experienced editors from Wikimedia Aotearoa New Zealand are running a Wikipedia edit-a-thon to create and improve articles focused on Aotearoa New Zealand's unique native flora and fauna at Ōtari-Wilton's Bush, Wellington. Training and resources will be provided to get you started.

Bring a laptop and charger – all other resources, tea, coffee and kai are provided. Bookings required, $5 per person.

Location: Otari-Wilton's Bush Leonard Cockayne Centre, 150 Wilton Road, Wilton, Wellington
