These April school holidays check out the range of activities on at the New Zealand Police Museum for your tamariki.

School Holiday Programmes

Scene of Crime Officer Workshop: Footwear Impression Evidence

For 7–12 years. A footprint found at a crime scene could be the key evidence! Create a footprint cast and record a shoe impression using forensic techniques. All junior recruits take home their own cast and impression. Wear shoes with an interesting sole.

  • Tuesday 7 April, 11 am–12 pm

  • Tuesday 14 April, 11 am–12 pm

Scene of Crime Officer Workshop: Latent Fingerprint Evidence

For 7–12 years. Learn to dust, identify, and lift fingerprints like a true SOCO. Look at your own fingerprints and see what patterns you have. All junior recruits take home their own fingerprint evidence.

Dates:

  • Tuesday 7 April, 1–2 pm

  • Friday 10 April, 11 am–12 pm

  • Tuesday 14 April, 1–2 pm

  • Friday 17 April, 11 am–12 pm

Craft Workshop: Create a Constable

For 4–6 years. Do you enjoy craft and creating things? Come in and make a police officer and police car to take home. There will be colouring, card folding and caregivers will need to help.

  • Thursday 9 April, 11 am–12 pm

Next Level Scene of Crime Officer Workshop

For 13+ years. Calling all secondary recruits. Do you know how our Scene of Crime Officers gather evidence? Use the equipment like our SOCOs and learn how they collect fingerprints at a scene. All secondary recruits take home their own fingerprint evidence.

  • Thursday 16 April, 11 am–12 pm

Available everyday, 10 am–5 pm

  • Museum Tours: available for visiting groups and can be adapted to suit individual needs and ages, booking required

  • Junior Detective Trail: 4 years +, free activity – find pictures of Police Ranks and Team Patches hidden in the museum.

  • Senior Detective Mystery: 8 years +, free activity aimed at putting the detective skills of your tamariki to the test.
