Geothermal Week 2025
31 July 2025 - 31 July 2025
1:30–4:00 pm
Region(s): Waikato
Type(s): professional Development
Greening Taupō are celebrating geothermal week this year by running a free teacher professional development session at Craters of the Moon on 31 July. Local ecologist Alana Delich – who is an expert in geothermal plants – will be supporting the session and the focus will be on the unique flora and fauna that survives in Taupō's harsh geothermal environment.
There is a Geothermal Ecosystem education resource specifically for Craters of the Moon that is available online.
The goal is that teachers will come away with knowledge, activities and resources that they could use to run a class trip to Craters of the Moon or other geothermal areas in Taupō.
Numbers on this trip will be capped at 20 participants. Although the session is aimed at teachers, if spots don't fill up, it could be advertised it to other keen community group members too.
Spaces are limited so RSPV to rachel@greeningtaupo.org.nz now to save your spot, registrations close 25 July.
