ANZCCART NZ Board Member position: Secondary education

The Australian & New Zealand Council for the Care of Animals in Research and Teaching (ANZCCART-NZ) is looking for expressions of interest for an ANZCCART NZ Board Member position: Secondary education. This is honorary, expenses paid, positions that may take the equivalent of 10 days a year of your time.  ANZCCART (NZ), a committee of Royal Society Te Apārangi, seeks to promote discussion around the social, ethical, cultural and scientific use of animals in research and teaching.

Activities ANZCCART NZ is currently working on include:

  1. Encouraging more openness around the use of animals by organisations undertaking research or teaching using animals, through the ANZCCART NZ Openness Agreement.

  2. Developing resources around Māori knowledge of animals and concepts for animal ethics.

  3. Informing and supporting the use by schools of animal ethics committees when using animals for teaching

  4. Developing new three Rs booklets, linked to Three Rs awards.

  5. Filling the knowledge gaps identified by a public survey on attitudes to animal use in research and teaching.
