Graham Leonard, GNS, will speak about tectonics, subduction, earthquakes, tsunamis, volcanoes and risk science components of Te Taiao. With particular research expertise around volcanoes, tsunamis and risk.
GeoNet Technology: What it takes to go from detecting shaking across New Zealand to sending an earthquake’s location and magnitude to your phone in 2 minutes
Caroline Little, GNS Science, will talk about the GeoNet Project and the journey necessary to transform shaking recorded on hundreds of seismographs around the country into an ever-growing catalogue of 600,000 earthquakes you can explore with the interactive earthquake display that is part of Te Taiao.
