Kiwi Conservation Club and their ‘Be with a Tree’ partners, Garden to Table, Enviroschools Te Upoko o te Ika a Māui, NZ Arborists, Wellington Botanical Gardens and Otari Wilton Bush, are asking all of Aotearoa to ‘Be with a Tree’ and complete 10 tree challenges over 10 days.

This goal of the event is to encourage people to connect with trees and to make it as accessible as possible to everyone in Aotearoa there are a range of ways people can be involved. The challenges are designed to enable people from all areas of Aotearoa to participate, even if they are in the middle of the city.

One of the challenges is to vote for your favourite hero tree whilst another calls for you to spend time with a species of tree you have never seen before. Share why trees are important to you on leaf outlines from our hero trees or meet a tree of significance. Trees are linked with our identity, hold memories, provide a habitat, are a source of sustenance for humans and other animals as well as helping our climate-there is so much to discover about them.

People can share their completed challenges in a variety of ways including social media #bewithatree.
