The concept behind the Nelson Ideas Festival is simple - people who do amazing things can inspire others to do amazing things too.

In beautiful Nelson, there will be inspiring presenters, dynamic ideas and enthusiastic participants coming together to create Eureka moments.

Ideas Festival Primary

Bringing the Eureka moment to Primary students Years 5-6. The Ideas Festival brings 8-11yr olds together with great thinkers in a series of thrilling hands-on experiments, thought-provoking discussions, engaging workshops and insights into developments, changes and opportunities for their future.

Ideas Festival Intermediate

Bringing the Eureka moment to Intermediate Students. This is the interactive festival of ideas for Year 7-8 students. It will be a full day of self-selected one hour sessions in science, technology, engineering, arts and maths (STEAM).

There will be engaging workshops with hands-on experiences led by those with expertise and enthusiasm for their field.

Ideas Festival Community

This free community event is a Story telling Pecha Kucha style evening with selected presenters from the amazing IDEAS Festival. This early evening event brings the community together with enthusiastic experts in a series of short presentations followed by Q&A. Presenters will outline how they got where they are now and offer insights into developments, changes and opportunities for the next 10 years.

The IF: Ideas Festival Youth

The unique event for Youth (strictly age 16-24 or Y11+ students). A full day of challenging discussions, provocative ideas, good food and live performance.

The IF offers insights into developments, changes and opportunities for the next 10 years. It is a catalyst for youth to challenge their own perspectives and to think creatively and dynamically about their future.
