Join the Otago Museum team for a day of hands-on fun, explorations and scientific wonder.

Explosions!

Stand back… and cover your ears! Find out how big a bang liquid nitrogen, carbon dioxide and helium can really make.

Explosions on the hour: 10am, 11am, 12pm, 1pm, 2pm and 3pm.

Take off

Get physical with the effects of gravity, physics, friction, force and balance on the Space Camp bouncy castle. Suitable for children aged 12 years and under.

Explore in the ‘OM Tech Tent’

Sound is amazing. But what exactly is sound? How is it made? How does it travel? From feeling its vibrations to seeing flaming waves dance to music, use your senses to explore the world of sound. Learn about friction, centripetal force and sound amplitude by creating your own musical instruments to take home.

Up above

Take a closer look at the sun with solar telescopes, make your own planisphere and let off a water rocket with the Dunedin Astronomical Society.
