The 2018 theme for Seaweek – Kaupapa Moana – will be ‘Toiora te Moana, Toiora te Tangata – Healthy Seas, Healthy People’. It highlights our many connections with the sea and ways we can keep our coastline and seas healthy for all.

Seaweek is New Zealand’s annual national week about the sea with events being held all over New Zealand. Hosted by the NZ Association for Environmental Education (NZAEE), Seaweek focuses on learning from the sea. It’s about exciting and inspiring all New Zealanders to renew their connections with the sea! Not just for children or those involved with formal education – it’s a time for all of us to get to know our ocean, its habitats, characteristics and inhabitants better.

They will be many varied events throughout this week, such as ‘Farewell to the Godwits’ bird watching, clean-ups, adventure races, films, lectures and guided snorkeling trips.

If you would like to organise an event for Seaweek 2018 or get your school or community group involved please contact the National Coordinator: mels@subliminal.co.nz.
