Join Dr Nathaniel Swain, (teacher, instructional coach, researcher and the author of Harnessing the Science of Learning) for this informative and practical workshop. 

Session objectives for participants so they will:

  • Understand key principles of cognitive load theory and their implications for classroom practice.

  • Explore practical tips for effective explicit instruction with opportunities for active engagement and participation.

  • Learn how to incorporate guided practice, formative assessment, and mid-point check-ins into their teaching.

  • Discuss the importance of oral language development and strategies to embed it in the curriculum.

  • Connect theoretical insights to practical applications in literacy and writing instruction.
