Student Activity - Make your own myth
Activity idea
In many cultures there are creation myths and legends. In New Zealand we have Māui fishing up the North Island, and the marriage of Rangi and Papa creating the earth.
Instructions
In this activity, students can read and discuss myths and stories from the native people of the arctic and sub-arctic regions (Norse, Germanic, Inuit). They can write their own Antarctic myth to explain the uniqueness of the environment (blizzards, land of ice and snow, penguins and no humans).
