Student Activity - A day in the life of a scientist
Activity idea
Scientists and crew members on the Tangaroa will be journeying around the Ross Sea of Antarctica for eight weeks. During this time they will investigate different forms of marine life, looking at the biodiversity of the Ross Sea environment, from the ocean surface to the sea floor 4000 meters deep.
Instructions
Can you picture what this exciting voyage might be like? Imagine that you are one of the scientists on board the Tangaroa and write a diary about what you think you might do for a day.
- What hours do you think you would work? What time might you get up?
- What sort of things would do in a day?
- What foods might you eat on board a ship?
- What would it be like living and working with other people constantly for eight weeks?
