Getting ice core samples
Dr Katja Riedel and her team getting ice core samples in Antarctica. The air is extracted from these ice cores to measure the relative concentrations of carbon dioxide, methane and nitrous oxide. Doing this provides information about the concentration of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere at the time the ice was formed.
