A tubular carbonate (dolomitic) concretion

Dr Steve Hood, Department of Earth and Ocean Sciences, looking at a tubular carbonate (dolomitic) concretion protruding from shore platform Miocene mudstones near the East Cape. It was formed about upward escaping streamers of methane fluids in the subsurface, as part of the sub-seafloor plumbing pathways of a cold seep system.
